The journey: Putting pen to paper

Write what you know.

It’s a valid point, and one not to be casually cast aside. After all, who else but ourselves do we truly know best? Writing from memory and personal experience sets the scene for a tale only I can tell. It can be sad, funny, scary or even frustrating, but it’s my tale all the same. At the same time, though, writing factual details can stifle creativity. How can I let my imagination soar free with the birds when my feet are firmly planted in fact?

Keep true to what you know, but let down your guard. Imaginations have a wonderful way of bursting open at just the right moment. When you let them.
